Real Housewives of New York star Jenna Lyons on why she decided to return to for a second season

The stars of the Real Housewives of New York appeared together on The Today Show this morning, and Jenna Lyons was asked about her indecision to return to the show for a second season. Speaking about her time on the show during season fourteen, she stated that she was “the oldest one last year - I was fifteen years older than any of the cast”. She also discussed how she was the only openly gay cast member to appear last season.

On what eventually convinced her to agree to appear on this upcoming season, Lyons stated that it was new cast member Racquel Chevremont that sealed the deal. Chevremont is a close friend of Lyons, and they have known each other for years. Lyons stated that Chevremont has a very “similar story” to her own, and that gave her more confidence to join and made her feel as though that will change the storyline a little bit. Speaking to GLAAD in June, Chevremont stated that she “wasn’t sure if they were going to want two queer women on a franchise that has historically been about married heterosexual women. I think was a bold decision and honestly a more authentic representation of NYC.”

The fifteenth season of the Real Housewives of New York premieres on Bravo on October 1, and viewers will get to see Chevremont’s debut along with fellow new cast member, Rebecca Minkoff. Minkoff will be shown in a “friend of” role only, leaving most of her personal life offscreen for now.
