Love Is Blind Season 5 episodes 1-4 recap
The pods are open….and they stayed open! The first four episodes of this round of Love is Blind have dropped and we still haven’t picked our jaws up off of the floor! As promised we had more drama, more pod time, more shocking revelations, and more love triangles! We really liked the extra time to get to know all (or most) of the cast, and the deeper dive into their connections, including the ones that didn’t quite pan out.
First we have the sugar butts. We didn’t see any other connections for Taylor and JP and they had the most straightforward storyline. However, their first meeting was a bit awkward and seemed to spell trouble ahead… was it the nerves of being podless, or something deeper?
Then we had Izzy and…well, where to start. Izzy developed connections with Johnie, Lydia and Stacy. He was definitely the hot commodity in the pods (or so we were shown). It was clear he wasn’t feeling Lydia quite on the same level that she was, and he cut her off . Lydia handled this with a lot of tears, but seemed to bounce back quite quickly. She went on to forge a connection with young Milton (24!), and Izzy went on to a love triangle with the remaining two women that had their eye (or ear?) on him. After a devastating breakup with Johnie in which he decided her baggage was too much, Izzy went with his more lighthearted, fun connection with Stacy.
That left Johnie attempting to get back into the good graces of her second choice, Chris. Johnie seemed genuinely torn between the paths of Izzy and Chris, and confused on which one would be holding previous patterns and which one would be forging a new path. But alas, she was only left with Chris to possibly become engaged to. Chris ultimately decided that being second choice was not an option for him, and the pair left separately with no engagement.
Uche and Aaliyah got off to quite a rocky start, with Aaliyah revealing that she had cheated on a partner just two years ago, and Uche showing no mercy upon his questioning of her. Now, he is determining if he will be able to marry this person, so some tense questioning is to be expected, but it came off as more judging and less understanding. However they seemed to find their footing again and appeared to have a beautiful love story blossoming, complete with poetry sharing and weenus revelations (IYKYK).
We ended the four episodes with only three engaged couples. Lydia and Milton, Taylor and JP and Stacy and Izzy. What happened to Uche and Aaliyah you ask? Well just the most shocking revelation in Love is Blind history, with the exposure of a previous relationship between Uche and Lydia! Aaliyah seemed to handle Uche’s confession well, until discussing it with Lydia. Lydia revealed personal details despite Aaliyah asking her not to, and an off camera fight between Aaliyah and Lydia led to the fourth episode ending on a dumfounded Uche being told in the pods that Aaliyah had left the experiment. What a cliffhanger! Stay tuned for a recap of episodes 5-7 soon!
