Love is Blind season 7’s Garrett and Taylor Josemans-Krause appeared on The Viall Files today (their one year wedding anniversary), and provided some context behind some of the issues they dealt with on the show. They had a relatively smooth, drama free onscreen relationship, but one of the questions that viewers had the most surrounded their announcement at the reunion that they had decided not to move to San Diego, despite seemingly agreeing to do that on the show. Taylor clarifies that “it seems like (on the show) we decided we are moving to San Diego immediately after getting married and that was never the discussion it was, where do we want to raise our family, and so that was in like five to seven years.” She says they intended to be digital nomads until that point, and that they have completely remote and flexible jobs, but after trying it out they realized it was very difficult. Taylor said that Garrett has been in Fredericksburg his entire life, and that moving would be tough for him.

Garrett said it was always the goal to live in Fredericksburg after the show. They spent time in San Diego (three weeks) with her family for the holidays, and then they went to Europe, Costa Rica, and were on the road lots. They were considering going to New York, but at the end of the summer, after travelling for six months, Garrett realized he had spent more time away from his friends and family than he ever had in his whole life. On the flight home from Europe he realized how much he missed them, and two days later he had the difficult conversation with Taylor. He says it was their biggest struggle this summer, figuring out how to make their marriage work with these regional difficulties. Taylor points out that Love Is Blind usually avoids this by casting people from the same city, but that it doesn’t always work as people are from different places originally.

Taylor said she is glad Garrett was honest with her, but it was tough. She described it as weeks of very difficult hard conversations with Garrett, as well as her family and friends. There were lots of sleepless nights and tears and she has been working with a fantastic therapist for the past few months. She realized that they have become “a unit”, and whatever comes their way, they will work it out together. After she grieved it, they got to the other side but they are still figuring it out. She says when they have kids, her mom Fong is “agreeing to to come (visit) once a month”, and that her family is very supportive and understanding. They have a second wedding planned at some point, for their family and friends to really enjoy. They have compromised and decided to live in DC for now, as it is an easier transition for Garrett and not as big of a leap for Taylor. They just know they want to be together, and are excited to start a life in DC.

In the episode they also give their commentary on all of the other couples, and discuss more behind the scenes from the reunion, as well as delve into the “text from the ex”, so its worth a listen!
