Love Is Blind’s Tyler Francis was NOT a donor, according to children’s mother
Viewers have watched the love story of Tyler and Ashley play out on season seven of Love Is Blind, and were blindsided when he dropped the news on her that he fathered not one but three children as a sperm donor, for a gay couple that were friends of his. However, the mother of the children took to her instagram account today (@brithomas2) to clear some things up. Here is a summary of what Bri said:
She is a shy, private person and does not like her business being out in the world, but that is the situation she has been put in and she feels it is important to clear everything up and state the truth.
There was a time in which Tyler was one of her best friends. Her intent is not to bash Tyler, but as a mother she is compelled to protect her babies and herself from this inaccurate narrative.
In regards to their oldest child, Tyler helped Bri and her ex wife conceive. He agreed not to take a fatherly role and her ex wife was on the birth certificate. Right before the birth, her ex wife left her and moved to California. They agreed to coparent but it was rocky. Soon after her ex wife petitioned the court for full custody. Tyler, as her best friend, was there for her, and she is thankful for him. Tyler texted her one day and asked if he could be a father to their son, as he didn’t want him to be raised by a single mother. They had a deep discussion about what that would mean and what it would look like in terms of financial responsibility and being an active present parent. After much thought and consideration, she agreed to let him be his father, and he has acted as one since that moment.
In regards to the twins, they were unplanned and conceived by intercourse. There were no complexities surrounding parentage. They were conceived before their son turned one. She has not always been comfortable with that truth as she has lived the majority of her life as a lesbian, however it is the truth. Tyler was there the whole way, went to doctors appointments, lived with her, was there for the births, and cut the umbilical cords and signed the birth certificates. His mom and sister were also there. There has never been any confusion or additional context surrounding the twins parentage. They left the hospital as parents of three children. They lived together for over a year to give the kids a two parent household. They agreed to date other people during this time.
Tyler and Bri were never officially a couple, but they had the children and were raising them together as coparents. She felt like they were best friends. She hates that she has to provide this explanation but she couldn’t sit back and allow these things to be said about her and the kids. What’s further upsetting is Tyler was at her house the day before he left for the show. He said goodbye to the kids and Bri wished him luck. She doesn’t understand what happened. The kids sent him a birthday video while he was in the pods. In her head she knew he would find love but didn’t know he would neglect his children.
After he got back from Mexico he reached out and she asked when he would see the kids. She said they missed him and updated him on their lives. She said things seemed off and he kept giving excuses. She then noticed he deleted his Facebook, which contained all of the photos of him and the children. At this point Bri could see what he was doing and she was heartbroken. She never thought this was a possibility as they discussed her and the kids attending the wedding if he made it that far. She continues to be completely disappointed by all of this and how he has been ignoring her requests of help with the children and to see them. She filed for contempt of court because Tyler has not paid child support. She also filed to change their last names from his to hers.
She understands that there is an argument to suggest that despite him wanting and accepting the role as dad to their son, that maybe he doesn’t or shouldn’t have any responsibility for him. Bri and the courts disagree. But she says there is absolutely nothing to suggest the same for the twins. Tyler hasn’t spoken to or seen the kids since September 30, 2023, since he left to film the show, and that’s why she is so hurt. She completely supported his decision to go on the show and find love, and she didn’t think that meant he would disown his kids. She can’t wrap her head around how he could cut off his kids then lie on national television and say they are merely sperm babies and they don’t know what he looks like. This is her real life, and wonders if his intent was to protect her and the children, then he should not have spoken about the children at all. She can’t understand how denouncing them to sperm babies is protecting them in any way. her heart is broken for herself and her children, and she lost her best friend and the kids have been disrespected by their father. She’s ready for this all to be over, and is ready to get the support they are owed.
